Job summary

BMW Group in North America seeks a Technical Instructor/Developer to build and maintain automotive training curricula for customers across levels, and to sponsor course development within the team. You will update content in line with diagnostic changes and design engaging training materials for classrooms, e-learning, and multimedia formats.

Ideal candidates bring an associate degree or higher in automotive tech, master technician credentials, and 5+ years of related training experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in automotive technology or post-secondary certificate required.
  • BMW Master technician, OEM Master technician, or ASE Master technician (A1–A8) required or acceptable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering may replace above education requirements.
  • 5+ years of related experience in automotive technical training if degree exists.
  • 7+ years of related experience in training if no degree is held.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain technical training curriculum for customers, addressing all user levels and products/services.
  • Act as a course sponsor within the development team and collaborate on content specifications.
  • Update courses based on diagnostic changes (ISPi) and assess customer needs for future training.
  • Prepare and organize training materials, including vehicles, engines, body shells, and other assets.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of course content throughout its lifecycle and enhance delivery methods.
  • Plan and deliver training programs, including classroom, e-learning, multimedia, and computer-aided instruction.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and provide feedback to continually improve technical and presentation skills.

Education

Associate degree in automotive technology or post-secondary certificate
BMW Master technician, or OEM Master technician, or ASE Master technician (A1-A8)
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering in lieu of above education requirements

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING.

  • Associate degree in automotive technology or post-secondary certificate
  • BMW Master technician, or equivalent OEM Master technician, or ASE Master technician (A1-A8)
  • Will accept bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering in lieu of the above education requirements

If candidate has associate degree in automotive technology or post-secondary or certificate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, then 5+ years required in any of the following fields:

  • BMW Master tech, or OEM equivalent.
  • Automotive technical instructor
  • OEM or Aftermarket automotive product engineering
  • OEM or Aftermarket automotive service engineering

If candidate does not have associate degree or post-secondary certificate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering mentioned above, then 7+ years’ experience in any of the following fields:

  • OEM/Aftermarket Technical trainer.
  • ASE Master technician (ASE B2-B6) or I-CAR Platinum technician.
  • OEM or Aftermarket automotive product engineering

Relocation is available for this position.

The expected salary range for this position is $57,900.00 - $125,000.00.

The selected candidate’s education, skills, experience, and location will be used to determine the final salary offer. All pay ranges are based on a full-time work schedule. This statement is in accordance with state and local pay disclosure requirements.
