Job summary

Modern Technical Staffing Inc. is recruiting for an Inside Sales Engineer to support field-based sales professionals for a well-established industrial solutions organization in Concord. This role focuses on inside technical and commercial support, using consultative sales over phone, video, and email.

You will manage a customer portfolio, build relationships, and help drive profitable growth through lead management, forecasting, and pricing discipline, with travel 10-20% as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a technical or commercial customer-facing role.
• Experience managing customer relationships or portfolios.
• Evidence of B2B product/solution sales experience.
• Strong technical learnability with product/solution data.
• Driven with strong follow-through and results orientation.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical product selection, application guidance, and sales support to customers and field sales team members.
• Identify, qualify, and develop opportunities within an assigned customer portfolio.
• Prepare and manage customer call plans, portfolio plans, sales forecasts, and opportunity pipelines.
• Respond to inbound technical and commercial inquiries in collaboration with customer service and internal support teams.
• Promote solutions that improve customer outcomes while supporting profitable, sustainable sales growth.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, including opportunity status, win/loss reasons, expected order value, and forecasting updates.
• Support pricing, quotation, and negotiation activities in line with company policies and commercial objectives.
• Build broader relationships with customer stakeholders to uncover additional growth opportunities.
• Maintain strong health, safety, quality, legal, and ethical standards in all customer and internal interactions.
• Primarily communicate with customers by phone, video calls, and email, with some planned customer visits as required.
• Support customer portfolios that include value-focused accounts and customers requiring technical solutions, strong service, and responsive follow-up.
• Use a proactive approach to develop opportunities, while also supporting reactive customer needs and inquiries.
• Travel may be required approximately 10% to 20% of the time.
• Prospecting and outbound customer phone activity may represent approximately 10% to 20% of the role.
