Job summary

Rocscience Inc. in Toronto is seeking a Technical Content Specialist to join our documentation team. You will create, organize, and publish technical content across our geotechnical engineering software, ensuring accuracy and clarity for users.

You'll collaborate with subject matter experts, QA, and developers to keep articles up-to-date with the latest releases, while adhering to branding, style guides, and accessibility standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We're looking for a Technical Content Specialist to join our Toronto team. Working closely with our Documentation Lead and subject matter experts, you'll create and manage technical content across our suite of geotechnical engineering software, ensuring complex information is accurate, clear, consistent, and easy for our users to understand.

What You'll Do

You'll be responsible for creating, organizing, maintaining, and publishing technical documentation across Rocscience products and services. Responsibilities include:

• Writing and copy-editing documentation pages, tutorials, and verification/theory manuals.
• Using our content management system (CMS) to edit, update, and publish documentation content.
• Managing documentation requests through Azure DevOps.
• Editing and reviewing HTML content, including font styles, lists, links, and images.
• Ensuring all documentation content complies with WCAG and provincial accessibility guidelines (AODA).
• Ensuring all documentation content aligns with Rocscience's Branding Guidelines and Style Guide, and updating materials as our branding evolves.
• Creating, organizing, and maintaining digital media libraries of User Guide assets (figures, icons, tutorial images, PDF manuals, etc.).
• Collaborating with the Quality Assurance team and developers to ensure documentation content stays up-to-date and aligns with the latest software releases.
• Collaborating with subject matter experts, including geotechnical engineers, to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in technical materials and communicate complex information clearly to our users.
• Taking screenshots of software for documentation figures and tutorial instructions, as well as creating simple thumbnail images.
• Working with UI/UX, Design, and Web Development teams to develop new content ideas and solutions for the company website.

Qualifications and Skills

• Exceptional English writing and editing skills.
• Basic to intermediate understanding of HTML.
• Experience working with a content management system such as WordPress or Craft.
• Experience writing and editing technical content in a professional capacity.

• Good time management skills and the ability to coordinate competing priorities.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to solve problems and learn new software programs quickly.
• General understanding of SEO.
• General understanding of the software development process.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or other sprint management tools.
• Experience using style guides such as The Canadian Press Stylebook.
• Experience working in a field such as engineering, software development, or geomechanics is considered an asset.
• Experience using Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
• Educational background in Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, Digital Marketing, or another relevant field.

• The base salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000 per year, plus an annual bonus, three weeks of vacation, and health benefits.
