Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a bilingual specification register with owners, dates, and open items.
  • Manage an open-questions log and close unresolved items across Canada and Korea.
  • Prepare bilingual minutes for technical calls and flag language discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain a shared engineering glossary for imaging, calibration, and quality terms.
  • Escalate incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous information to engineering/decision-makers.
  • Translate and localize work instructions, manuals, calibration procedures, and process specs into controlled Canadian docs.
  • Ensure localization preserves technical intent, acceptance criteria, traceability, and quality requirements.
  • Support staged localization of camera-system assembly, end-of-line testing, and related processes.
  • Establish document-control practices for training, certification, and audits.

Remote Robotic Systems (RRS) is a Canadian robotics and defense-tech company helping organizations deploy enterprise-grade drones, uncrewed aircraft, robotic platforms, sensors, payloads, and remote operations technologies for mission-critical applications. Our solutions support customers across defense, public safety, security, industrial, infrastructure, energy, and government sectors.

We are building Canadian manufacturing capability for advanced imaging and vision systems used in aerospace, defense, and autonomous platforms. Working alongside international technology partners, we are localizing production, quality, and calibration processes while developing the expertise needed to manufacture and support these systems in Canada.

The Role

Remote Robotic Systems is looking for a Technical Liaison Engineer to support the transfer of advanced imaging-system manufacturing processes from our Korean technology partner to our Canadian operations team.

This role sits at the center of a multi-year technology transfer initiative focused on building Canadian manufacturing capability for advanced imaging systems. You will work directly with engineering, production, and quality teams in both Korea and Canada to ensure technical requirements, manufacturing procedures, calibration methods, and process knowledge are accurately communicated, documented, and implemented.

You will create the bilingual records and Canadian-controlled documentation that allow the production process to move without technical meaning being lost between languages.

This is an early-career engineering role with unusual exposure to technology transfer, precision manufacturing, quality systems, and international collaboration. You will spend your first phase close to the production process, including travel and potential extended placements with our partner in the Republic of Korea.

The role is designed to grow toward manufacturing or process engineering as production capabilities are localized in Canada. We are looking for someone who combines professional technical Korean, strong written English, engineering fundamentals, careful documentation, and the confidence to elevate ambiguity before it becomes a production or quality issue.

What You Will Work On
Technical Communication & Requirements
  • Maintain a bilingual specification register as the authoritative record of agreed technical requirements, owners, dates, and open items.
  • Manage an open-questions log and follow unresolved technical points through to closure across teams in Canada and Korea.
  • Prepare bilingual minutes for technical calls and flag differences between Korean- and English-language documents or interpretations.
  • Develop and maintain a shared engineering glossary for imaging, calibration, optical alignment, manufacturing, and quality terminology.
  • Escalate incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous information to the appropriate engineering or business decision-maker.
Documentation & Process Localization
  • Translate and localize work instructions, equipment manuals, calibration procedures, and process specifications into controlled documentation for Canadian operators.
  • Ensure localized documentation preserves technical intent, acceptance criteria, traceability, and quality requirements.
  • Support the staged localization of camera-system assembly, end-of-line testing, optical alignment, thermal calibration, and related production processes.
  • Help establish document-control practices that support operator training, process certification, quality reviews, and audits.
Technology Transfer & Compliance Support
  • Coordinate technical information between the Korean partner and Canadian engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Participate in technical calls, onsite production work, training, and knowledge-transfer activities in Canada and Korea.
  • Collect and structure bill-of-materials information, including component origin and value data, to support trade-compliance and rules-of-origin analysis.
  • Build durable records so transferred process knowledge remains accessible to the Canadian team as the program grows.
Core Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience (new graduates are encouraged to apply)

Nice to Have
  • Coursework, co-op, internship, or project experience in optics, imaging, camera systems, calibration, or precision manufacturing.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and apply or interpret GD&T.
  • Exposure to document control, configuration management, requirements management, or a regulated quality system such as ISO 9001.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, production, laboratory, or engineering-test environment.
  • Experience working across Canadian and Korean professional or technical environments.
  • Familiarity with bills of materials, component traceability, trade compliance, or export-controlled programs.

Employment Details

Compensation: $75,000-$90,000 plus benefits and potential equity participation, based on experience and fit for the role.

Travel: Travel to the Republic of Korea is required and may include extended periods, depending on program needs.

Schedule: Occasional early-morning or late-evening meetings are required to support collaboration with the Korean partner.

Security clearance: Employment is conditional on the ability to obtain and maintain the required Canadian security clearance and Controlled Goods Program registration.
