Job summary

Imperial Oil is seeking a Chemical/Process Engineer to join our manufacturing site in Nanticoke, ON. You will act as a Technical Contact Engineer, leading improvements to unit performance in safety, reliability, and profitability while collaborating across teams.

You will support day-to-day operations, troubleshoot processes, and contribute to longer-term strategic initiatives with senior resources. A strong foundation in chemical engineering is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years in refining/chemicals manufacturing.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operations, other engineering disciplines, and maintenance teams to support safe, reliable unit operations.
• Support abnormal and non-routine operations, including turnarounds and incident investigations.
• Identify and implement operating improvements focused on safety, reliability, economy and sustainability.
• Design and organize plant testing and product trials.
• Influence teams and drive solutions without direct authority.
• Support asset performance and business results by taking on additional responsibilities.
• Interface with corporate networks and external vendors to share best practices.
• Assist in field during plant startups, shutdowns or upset events.
• Advocate for fit-for-purpose outcomes through constructive challenges.
• Support routine energy, environmental and cost reporting.
