Job summary

FTAI Aviation LLC, based in Dorval, Quebec, seeks an experienced engine maintenance professional to provide technical guidance during engine strip and build on the CFM56 family, supporting POD teams with inspection discrepancies, workscope changes, and OEM interactions. This role focuses on aligning maintenance with business objectives and asset profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering required.
  • Minimum 5 years of technical experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of engine components.
  • Experience in engine asset management or shop visit execution; CFM56 experience strongly preferred.

Job description

FTAI owns and maintains commercial jet engines with a focus on CFM56 and V2500 engines. FTAI’s propriety portfolio of products, including the Module Factory and a joint venture to manufacture engine PMA, enables it to provide cost savings and flexibility to our airline, lessor, and maintenance, repair, and operations customer base. Additionally, FTAI owns and leases jet aircraft which often facilitates the acquisition of engines at attractive prices. Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting assistance during engine strip and build on the CFM56 engine line
  • Supports the powerplant engineers within the production-oriented delivery cell (POD) through technical guidance on inspection discrepancies, workscope changes, and other technical issues
  • Provide instructions and ongoing direction for engine maintenance in line with Business Objectives
  • Support in the optimization of work instructions to meet both technical and profitability targets.
  • Communicate technical issues with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) as well as internal and external customers
  • As required, lead investigations into non-quality, warranty, or engine related events and prepare technical reports and root cause analysis
  • Provide support to the configuration and methods engineers during the evaluation of engine configuration and conformance.
  • Review and audit Engine Shop Visit (ESV) reports, Life Limited Part (LLP) back-to-birth traceability, and dirty fingerprint records to ensure asset compliance and preserve market value.
  • Assist in teardown analysis and module swap logistics, evaluating whether to repair, scrap, or return parts to the available inventory pool to maximize the asset's lifecycle profitability.
  • Ensuring assets meets the specific conditions outlined in lease/sale agreements.
  • Define, optimize, and approve tailored Engine Shop Visit (ESV) Workscopes for the CFM56 fleet balancing technical airworthiness with asset life strategy.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or other relevant engineering degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical experience, in a similar position or equivalent experience, with maintenance, repair, and overhaul of engine components.
  • Experience in engine asset management or shop visit execution; CFM56 experience is strongly preferred.
  • Cross-Functional communication ability to translate complex technical engine discrepancies into financial or risk-based impacts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • High proficiency with specialized aviation asset tracking and MRO management platforms such as Quantum is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the regulations (FARs & CARs), service bulletins (SBs), and airworthiness directives (ADs)
  • Experience in engine ATA 72. Familiarity with the components, configuration, and functionality of the following: life limited parts (LLPs), fan frame, high pressure compressor (HPC), high pressure turbine (HPT), low pressure turbine (LPT), exhaust, line replaceable units (LRUs) & accessories
  • Experience with aircraft propulsion and engine systems and troubleshooting,
  • Test cell experience is considered an asset
  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to conduct investigations & root cause analysis
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and ownership of decisions.
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Office
