Job summary

The City of Markham’s Recreation, Community Services department seeks a Computer Instructor to plan, organize, and lead computer-related programs for participants from preschoolers through adults, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment at the Aaniin Community Centre.

Evenings and weekend hours apply, with duties including creating lesson plans, managing equipment, maintaining attendance, enforcing safety policies, and adapting activities to diverse abilities.

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary school education in a related field.
• Minimum age of 16 years at the start of employment.
• 3+ years of experience instructing computer programs to individuals of all ages.
• Experience working with children and staying current in computer programs/tech.
• Current Standard First Aid OR CPR C/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates, leads and supervises the program.
• Develops lesson plans and tailors activities to participants' abilities.
• Prepares program equipment and maintains inventory.
• Keeps attendance records and informs coordinators of changes.
• Enforces safety regulations and ensures a safe learning environment.
• Communicates upcoming events or cancellations and assists with program coordination.
