Job summary

The City of Markham is seeking a Computer Instructor for the Aaniin Community Centre to plan, organize, and lead computer-related programs for participants from Preschoolers through to adults. They will ensure a positive and safe environment for participants and peers.

Hours are primarily weekday evenings and weekends; the role requires creating age-appropriate lesson plans, maintaining equipment, and enforcing safety policies. Join City of Markham to contribute to community programming.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a related field.
• Minimum age of 16 at start of employment.
• Minimum 3 years experience instructing computer programs to all ages.
• Experience working with children.
• Active in the computer field and current with tech.
• Up-to-date with current computer programs and technology.
• First Aid/CPR-C and AED certification.
• Ability to read and enforce safety procedures.
• Strong communication, leadership and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates, leads and supervises the program.
• Organizes and writes lesson plans tailored to group abilities.
• Prepares equipment and maintains inventory; reports items needing replacement.
• Keeps attendance records and communicates absences to supervisor.
• Ensures safety and enforces policies for all participants.
• Ensures site and equipment are suitable for the activity.
• Communicates upcoming events, changes or cancellations to participants.
• Other duties as assigned.
