Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics in Saint-Laurent, Quebec, is seeking a Team Lead, Ocean Import to oversee shipment processing, monitor routes, and supervise the Operations team to meet KPI targets.

You will coordinate schedules with carriers, engage with customers and overseas offices, and mentor staff while ensuring compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

  • Education in supply chain logistics or related field is required or preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment.
  • CIFFA certificate and Dangerous Goods certification are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Daily management and coordination of shipments.
  • Direct desk level, day to day operations of the Operation Department.
  • Champion process and procedure to meet or exceed company KPI requirements.
  • Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments.
  • Prepare and publish reports as requested.
  • Mentor and train new staff from time to time.
  • Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement solutions.
  • Responsible for cost containment of shipments.
  • Evaluate shipments and consolidate loads for cost-effective delivery.
  • Daily communication with customers on relevant issues and resolution.
  • Manage new account implementation from SOP to execution.
  • Demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

The function of the Operations Team Lead is to oversee the processing of all shipments, as well as the movement and monitoring while in route. Supervise the handling of shipments ensuring compliance with DSV’s Corporate guidelines as well as government regulations. This role will have direct communication with customers, overseas offices and carriers is required. This role mentors and trains new staff as well as update internal and external process changes from time to time.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Daily management and coordination of shipments

  • Daily Communication with customer on relevant issues and resolution
  • Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution
  • Ability to demonstrate deductive logic, problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Effectively deal with any issues that arise within scope of responsibility
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
Quality, Health & Safety:
  • Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification – Montreal location
  • Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
  • Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a freight forwarding environment
  • CIFFA certificate, an asset
  • Dangerous Goods certification, an asset

  • Good command of English language, both verbally and written

  • Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
