Job summary

DSV – Global Transport and Logistics in Brampton, Canada, seeks a Team Lead, Warehouse to support the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager and drive daily operations. You will guide staff, coordinate dock activities, and ensure efficient handling of goods.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a warehousing environment.
  • 1-2 Years of team lead or supervisory experience required
  • Minimum high school education required
  • Dangerous Goods Certification, an asset
  • Authorized Cargo Representative (ACR) designated status, preferred
  • WHMIS training, required
  • Forklift license, required
  • Experienced with warehouse, transportation and dock management systems and RF devices.
  • Strong organizational, inventory and basic mathematic skills

Responsibilities

  • Assign duties to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Lead the team and assist in staff training to meet industry standards.
  • Participate in performance evaluations and reviews.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to boost productivity.
  • Handle LTL/LCL freight handling and cargo operations.
  • Record damages and misrouted shipments, and generate reports.
  • Ensure safety practices and housekeeping on the dock.
  • Support warehouse coordinators and backup staff as needed

Summary

This position will provide support and assistance to the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager. The Team Lead will participate in the overall operational success, guidance of staff and any merchandise processes performed in various areas.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assign duties and responsibilities in such a way as to maintain and improve both productivity and quality
  • Runs the team efficiently while helping in the training of staff to maintain industry standards
  • Assist in the employee performance evaluations and reviews
  • Suggest and implement process changes to improve productivity
  • Off-load and deconsolidate LTL and LCL freight, including manual material handling
  • Label, weigh, and cube freight
  • Load pick-up carriers
  • Coordinates the cargo handling for CBSA and CFIA inspections
  • Ensures that a high level of care is taken during all cargo handling and that industry best practices are followed
  • Produces and maintains handling reports for related exams and inspections including; off-load reports, damage reports, stop work orders, re-load report and photos/video
  • Follow-up on Health and Safety initiatives and daily checklists/reports
  • Perform cleanup activities in the work area to ensure safety and cleanliness of dock
  • Record damaged shipments and misrouted freight on applicable report
  • Support and back-up warehouse co-coordinators

  • Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
  • Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.

  • Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time
  • Safety shoes and safety vest to be used during work hours
  • Ability to lift, push & carry 25 - 50 lbs
