Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Application Services, the Team Lead, Application Services is responsible for overseeing the development of new applications and major enhancements to existing ones, ranging from simple solutions to highly complex systems.

This role provides both technical leadership and strategic guidance throughout the implementation process. Responsibilities include resolving technical issues, advising application teams on task selection and prioritization, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, build, test, and document integrations and APIs.

The Team Lead also supports Service Delivery by coordinating application support activities across various Information Management Technology (IMT) areas, including business stakeholders, database administration, data services, production operations, acceptance testing, and server support.

As a subject matter expert in software delivery, this position offers guidance and feedback on projects led by other departments. Additionally, the role plays a key part in fostering a high-performance team culture by providing leadership in resource management, mentoring, coaching, and succession planning—ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of outcomes.

Responsibilities

Some of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that acquired or developed application solutions are technically robust and fully meet business requirements, with a strong focus on maintainability and usability.
  • Fostering strong relationships with application clients, becoming a trusted advisor on leveraging technology to enhance business performance.
  • Conducting systems analysis for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of applications, including evaluating the impact of changes to interfaced systems, to clearly define and understand business needs.
  • Ensuring that all IMT solutions align with established application standards, principles, and guidelines.
  • Leading the design, development, testing, and implementation of new information systems that address client needs and support departmental goals, utilizing a range of technologies in a networked environment.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to a team of system analysts, fostering a high-performing team culture characterized by accountability, technical competence, and commitment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • University graduation in a related field such as Computer Sciences, Information Technology, IT Service Management.
  • Four (4) years of experience in a lead position in IT application development environment.
  • Experience with vendor management and project management.
  • Experience in design through development of software components designed to be reused by more than one business application/project.
  • Experience in developing and/or maintaining complex applications created using .NET Frameworks, third party components and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience in working with a variety of technologies, platforms and languages. These include .NET, CRM Dynamics 365, and network knowledge.
  • Leadership/supervisory experience, with ability to manage team of professionals.

Equivalency: Equivalencies will be considered:

  • A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and six years related experience; or
  • A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years related experience.

Assets

  • Experience working with the tools and systems required to configure, build, test, host, deploy and update distributed applications in an automated fashion.
  • Technical knowledge of a variety of software such as Visual Studio, GitHub, Office 365, API’s, OpenShift, .NET and SQL Server, ServiceNow, including knowledge of industry wide standards and standards organizations like ITIL and Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in assessing and analyzing client’s business based on IMT knowledge, and business knowledge to provide effective solutions for client areas.
  • Experience in assisting the clients in executing strategies with technology, process, organizational design and IMT operations as leverage points to deliver strategic value.
  • Ability to understand business goals and translate them into effective IMT solutions.
  • Experience in scheduling, coordinating and monitoring concurrent projects with tight timelines.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technology products and services such as AI and how it is applied to both everyday tasks and applications.
