Job summary

Ecole Pine Grove Middle School in Edson, Alberta, part of Grande Yellowhead Public School Division, is seeking a temporary Secondary Mathematics & Science teacher for grades 6/7. This 1.0 FTE position runs immediately until June 29, 2027 or until the incumbent returns, whichever comes first.

The role requires Alberta Teaching Certification, a Bachelor of Education, and commitment to TQS and literacy across the curriculum.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Math and Science instruction with student-centered approaches.
• Knowledge of the Alberta curriculum and Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).
• Ability to design and adapt lessons for diverse learners and grade 6/7.
• Experience reviewing student progress and reporting outcomes.

Location: Ecole Pine Grove Middle School

Start Date: Immediately or upon mutually agreeable start date until June 29, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent whichever occurs sooner.

Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

Ecole Pine Grove Middle School is located in Edson, Alberta, within the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. Ecole Pine Grove Middle School, serves around 330 students in grades 6-8.

Role And Responsibilities

• Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning.
• Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
• Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students.
• Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines.
• Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures.
• Developing constructive relationships with parents.
• Modelling commitment to professional development.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal to support the effective operation of the school.

The preferred candidate should have experience in secondary school Life Skills/Intervention Programming as well as Mathematics & Science; however, assignment flexibility may be considered based on the candidate's skills and qualifications.

Requirements

• Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one.
• Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum.
• Hold a Bachelor's degree of Education.
• Additional experience teaching Social Studies will be considered an asset.
