Assignment: Teacher on Call – NELNAH BESSIE JOHN SCHOOL (NBJ) – Beaver Creek Start Date: August19, 2026

Home to the White River First Nation people, Nelnah Bessie John school is one of 11 Yukon schools that have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Upper Tanana is the traditional language of the White River First Nation people.

You will build authentic relationships and collaborate with other passionate educators. Together we will impower and inspire through Yukon First Nation Wisdom!

Qualifications and Experience
  • High School Diploma, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with school aged students is preferred
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain an authentic relationship with the local Yukon First Nation people, community members, community Elders, and families, promoting greater community involvement in school- based activities and educational programming;
  • Eagerness to learn about and integrate the local Yukon First Nation culture & worldview, and the language in the classroom;
  • Able to follow and carry out instructions with little supervision, and,
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully.

Certified Teacher Requirements
  • Recent teaching reports or practicum reports;
  • Transcripts from your program;
  • A copy of the credential received after completing your program, and,
  • A copy of your teaching certificate
Job Requirements
  • Physical ability to perform the required duties.
