Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in Canada seeks a Tax Manager to support an acquisitive multinational group, partnering with finance teams across jurisdictions, manage external advisors, and participate in live transactions.

The role involves cross-border M&A diligence, post-acquisition integration, and IFRS IAS 12 tax provisions, with a CPA-ready path and a dynamic, high-growth environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of progressive tax experience with Canadian corporate income tax.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of quarterly tax provisions under IFRS.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of complex Canadian tax returns.
  • US tax experience is not required - a willingness to learn is what matters.
  • Familiar with preparing basis and surplus calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the consolidated tax provision process for the quarterly and annual financial reporting and related tax disclosures under IFRS IAS 12.
  • Prepare Canadian corporate tax filings including T2, T106, T1134.
  • Prepare US Federal tax returns and supporting workpapers.
  • Coordinate with global finance teams to ensure international tax filings are accurately completed and timely filed.
  • Conduct tax due diligence as part of the M&A transaction process including identifying risks, mitigating factors, and providing overall tax structuring advice.
  • Assist in tax research for complex tax issues and planning assignments across North American and foreign jurisdictions.
  • Interface with tax authorities and coordinate audits and responses.
  • Coordinate complex tax issues and prepare memos to support restructuring and filing positions.
  • Participate in integration of new acquisitions, including roll out of tax compliance processes and governance standards.
  • Keep current with the latest tax developments impacting the organization.
  • Manage ad-hoc day-to-day issues escalated by the group finance teams.

Our client is a leading software company. They are looking for a Tax Manager who will be responsible for supporting an acquisitive multinational group. You will work closely with finance teams across multiple jurisdictions, manage external advisors, and gain hands-on involvement in live transactions.

  • Manage ad-hoc day-to-day issues as escalated by the group finance teams.
About You
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive tax experience, with a strong foundation in Canadian corporate income tax, ideally combining public accounting and industry.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of quarterly tax provisions under IFRS.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of complex Canadian tax returns.
  • US tax experience is not required - a willingness to learn is what matters.
  • Familiar with preparing basis and surplus calculations.
Salary Range

$100,000 - $120,000/year

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
