Qualifications

  • CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of progressive tax experience with a strong foundation in Canadian corporate income tax.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing tax provisions under IFRS or similar financial reporting standards.
  • Strong experience with Canadian corporate tax compliance and complex tax filings.
  • Exposure to international tax, cross-border tax, or mergers and acquisitions is considered an asset.
  • Experience with ERP systems, tax software, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review corporate tax provisions and related financial reporting disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards
  • Manage Canadian corporate income tax compliance and support international tax filing requirements
  • Assist with cross-border tax matters, including U.S. tax compliance and international reporting
  • Participate in mergers and acquisitions by conducting tax due diligence, assessing risks, and supporting transaction structuring
  • Research complex tax issues and provide practical recommendations on domestic and international tax matters
  • Coordinate with external advisors and tax authorities on audits, inquiries, and compliance matters
  • Prepare technical tax memoranda and support corporate restructuring initiatives
  • Assist with the integration of newly acquired businesses by implementing tax compliance and reporting processes
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and evaluate the impact on the organization
  • Support finance teams with day-to-day tax advisory matters and special projects

Job description

A global technology organization is seeking a Tax Manager to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional looking to expand beyond Canadian tax into cross-border and international tax matters while gaining exposure to mergers and acquisitions, tax strategy, and multinational operations. You'll play a key role in supporting a dynamic business with a diverse and evolving international footprint.

About the Role

Reporting to senior tax leadership, you'll support the organization's global tax function by overseeing tax compliance, financial reporting, transaction support, and strategic tax planning. This position offers broad exposure to international operations, acquisition activity, and collaboration with finance teams across multiple jurisdictions.
