Job summary

Blackbird Security Inc. in Victoria, BC is seeking a talented Tactical Security Guard to establish a visible security presence across retail sites.

You will deter theft, monitor for suspicious activity, and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining strict access control. Ideal candidates have a valid security license, retail security experience, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Valid Security License is required.
• Asset protection experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Experience in a retail security environment is beneficial.
• Ability to deter theft and deter theft attempts effectively.
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Experience with arrests/detention helps.
• Must be able to stop theft when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Establish a strong security presence to deter crime and theft.
• Identify, monitor and approach subjects who may have unpaid merchandise.
• Document theft and other security violations.
• Patrol the premises, provide access control and respond to emergencies promptly.
• Perform safety and security duties with professionalism and integrity.
• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents.
• Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly.
• Provide excellent customer service to clients, customers and patrons.
• Respond to emergencies and escalate to law enforcement as needed.

What you will do

• Establish a strong security presence to deter crime and theft

• Identify, monitor and approach subjects who may have unpaid merchandise

• Document theft and other security violations

• Patrol the premises, provide access control and respond to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner

• Perform safety and security duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity

• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents

• Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly

• Provide excellent customer service to our clients, customers and patrons

• Respond to emergencies and elevate to law enforcement agencies as required

The Ideal Candidate

• A Valid Security License

• A keen interest in asset protection

• Willing to stand/ patrol for the duration of the shift

• Previous security experience in a retail environment

• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.

• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills’

• Ability to work without close supervision

• Must be willing and comfortable to stop theft

• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifters
