Job summary

Chilliwack School District No. 33 seeks an experienced teacher for the Intermediate – Grade 4-5 assignment at Rosedale Traditional Community School. The position is temporary, full-time, with a salary range based on length of service and qualifications under the collective agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver literacy and numeracy programs in collaboration with a school team.
  • Differentiate instruction based on student needs and strengths.
  • Utilize RTI models and data such as ACT, SNAP, and FSA to inform teaching practice.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and administration within a school-based team model.
  • Indigenize curriculum and embed First Peoples Principles of Learning; use technology to engage diverse learners.

Salary Range: $63,347 to $116,190 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

Effective Date: September 1, 2026 until no later than June 30, 2027 (or return of teacher)

  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Demonstrated ability to use district and ministry data sets (ACT, SNAP, FSA, PM/RR) to identify student need and drive informed teaching practice using an RTI model
  • Willingness to work as part of a team in the planning and delivery of a literacy and numeracy program
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in implementing formal adaptations (CB IEPs) and informal adaptations in response to individual student needs by creating multiple access points (UDL) for learners and applying trauma-informed practices
  • Knowledge of and experience using effective strategies to support the direct instruction of literacy skills; i.e. The ACT, Word Inventory and balanced literacy framework
  • Knowledge of and experience using effective strategies to support the direct instruction of numeracy skills; i.e. The SNAP assessment and balanced numeracy framework
  • Proven classroom management, behavioural management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction based on individual student differences, strengths and needs
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of formative and summative assessments to plan for instruction
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to indigenizing curriculum and embedding First Peoples Principes of Learning
  • Demonstrated ability using technology to enhance student engagement for a wide range of abilities
  • Proven ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
  • Willingness to work in a school where collaboration, shared decision-making and shared leadership are part of the culture
  • Proven ability as an effective team member, and a willingness to work collaboratively with staff, parents and administration (school based team model)
  • Commitment to working with colleagues in an open, accepting manner in order to promote a strong and caring professional learning community
