Context
The role is responsible for an assigned area of asset class responsibility and provides technical support to the Rapid Transit Engineering & Asset Management (EAM) discipline engineering lead for a particular transit system (e.g., GO, LRT, or Subways).
The role verifies compliance with engineering and technical requirements, oversees technical work under various contracts, conducts field inspections, assessments, and develops strategies for asset defect remediation.
It coordinates and implements risk-based assurance and audit programs, ensuring compliance with technical standards, specifications, and requirements within the asset class discipline.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Provides technical expertise to assess and verify compliance with standards and develop remediation strategies.
- Supports representation of the engineering discipline in technical work delivery and safety case reviews.
- Oversees development and control of technical standards, RAMS requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Manages assurance, audits, and compliance verification for assets and contracts.
- Reviews deviations to standards and technical requirements.
- Oversees technical reviews of design submissions, ensuring compliance with standards and safety processes.
- Supports failure analysis and system improvements to enhance safety and reliability.
- Coordinates testing, commissioning, and contract management activities.
- Supports procurement, contract development, and process improvements.
Profile/Skills
Education: University Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years in asset class or related railway systems engineering roles.
Certifications: P.Eng or C.E.T. certifications are assets.
Technical Skills include asset management, standards development, regulatory knowledge, system analysis, and software proficiency.
