What will you be doing?
- Provide leadership and direction to the systems engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Manage systems engineering projects from inception to completion, including project planning, resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
- Discern and decompose requirements at system, sub-system and software specification level and manage these in an appropriate requirements management toolset. Manage system requirements definition and traceability, ensuring alignment with customer needs, technical specifications, and project objectives.
- Oversee system design activities, including system architecture development, trade-off analysis, and design reviews, ensuring designs meet functional and performance requirements.
- Coordinate system integration and testing activities, including test planning, execution, and verification/validation, ensuring systems meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Identify and mitigate system-level risks and issues, developing risk management plans and contingency strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and deliverables.
- Communicate project status, updates, and risks to stakeholders, including senior management, customers, and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Allocate and manage systems engineering resources, including manpower, budget, and tools, to support project activities and meet project objectives and deadlines.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to systems engineering team members, identifying strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth and development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in systems engineering processes, tools, and methodologies, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement to increase efficiency and productivity.
What do we need from you?
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineering leader.
- Track record of building performant teams.
- Strong knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, with strong systems thinking and holistic approaches to requirement definition and management.
- Experience in requirements management tools and configuration control.
- In-depth understanding of the full engineering lifecycle, including lifecycle models such as Waterfall and Agile, and tools like JIRA
- Previous experience working within complex system designs in an aviation, automotive or similar systems development environment working to rigorous standards (e.g. RTCA DO-178B/C, DAL level A or B, or similar) would be a strong advantage.
