JOB SUMMARY

The Asset Management Branch is responsible for the cost-effective management of the City’s $20 billion public works infrastructure assets, carrying out or overseeing the provision of planning, analysis and needs evaluation specifications, and Request for Proposal (RFP) development, evaluation and selection.

You are responsible for developing, monitoring and evolving asset management plans for the city’s natural system assets. You lead and conduct studies to integrate the city’s natural systems assets into corporate asset management plans in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You also consult and engage with various internal and external stakeholders as the corporate expert in the management of natural system assets, and plan and manage related projects and initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

4-year degree in environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering or other related field

8 years of experience in stormwater/water resources’ engineering or environmental engineering field

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) KNOWLEDGE

• Engineering methods, principles, models and tools relevant to natural systems systems such hydrology, hydraulics and geomorphology
• Industry trends and best practices
• Pertinent legislation and regulations (e.g. the Conservation Authorities Act, the Municipal Act, the Environmental Assessment Act) and other provincial direction
• Asset management concepts
• Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

• Ability to set and implement strategic direction, understands internal and external trends, the political sensitivities of the organization and applies this knowledge to support the long-term vision and success of the City
