Systems Analyst - Construction Coordination (Canada Line)

As a member of the Commercial Team, this position assists the Manager, Special Projects and Commercial or Manager, Performance and Planning with project management, liaison with contractors and clients, performance analysis, operations planning, and other duties. This position reports to one of the managers in the Commercial Department.

Location: Richmond, BC (Onsite Work)

Your role within the team :

  • Provides the Manager with updates on project progress, including delays and forecast schedules.
  • Manages documentation flow, submittals, comments, and requests for information related to projects.
  • Prepares minutes, agendas, logistics, project deliverables including specifications and reports, and other documentation.
  • Tracks RFIs, purchase orders, and submittals, maintaining document control best practices.
  • Collaborates with the accounting team to ensure project work is tracked under appropriate tasks and billed accordingly.
  • Works with the procurement team to review designs, specifications, and agreements, sourcing appropriate vendors and materials as needed.
  • Effectively discusses project issues with contractors, project team, and clients, including conflict resolution.
  • Prepares and reviews work permits to control site access for contractors.
  • Monitors performance against contractual terms and provides reports as required.
  • Inspects projects during construction to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Manages deadlines, prioritizes assignments, and allocates resources efficiently.
  • Analyzes and reports on commercial performance, including root cause analysis of delays, KPIs, PMS system management, and O&M invoicing.
  • Implements Operations Planning processes, liaising with Control Room and Field Operations, scheduling maintenance activities, planning for special events, and analyzing operational strategies.
  • Develops and improves business processes using scripting languages and data visualization tools.
  • Evaluates contractors' commercial performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, IT, architecture, or construction is an asset.
  • At least two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Visio, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and resourcefulness skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy; experience with scripting and programming is an asset.
  • Experience in engineering, architecture, or construction fields focusing on task coordination is an asset.
