Job summary

Dexterra Group is seeking a Sustainability Coordinator Co-op Student to support environmental initiatives across the organization. The role offers a remote or hybrid arrangement with up to 3 days in a Dexterra office and a 40-hour week during a 16- or 32-week term.

You will assist in data collection, reporting, and program coordination, helping to advance ESG goals while gaining hands-on experience in sustainability practices and corporate communications.

Qualifications

• Must be a college or university student and returning to academic studies after the co-op term.
• Enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or Business.
• Interest in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, and climate action.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and Copilot.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented, remote or hybrid environment.

Responsibilities

• Sustainability Program Support – assist in coordinating initiatives like energy reduction and sustainable procurement.
• Data Collection & Reporting – track metrics such as GHG emissions and waste streams; draft internal reports and dashboards.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication – prepare awareness materials and coordinate webinars/workshops.
• Administrative & Project Support – provide day-to-day ESG team support and manage documentation.

WHAT'S THE JOB?

This temporary full-time co-op role is available for either a 16-week work term (January to April) or a 32-week work term (January to August). The position offers a remote or hybrid work arrangement, with the opportunity to work from a Dexterra Group corporate office up to 3 days per week. The role follows a standard 40‑hour work week.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Sustainability, the Sustainability Coordinator Co-op Student will support Dexterra Group’s sustainability teams in advancing environmental sustainability projects across the organization.

• This role contributes to Dexterra’s sustainability goals by assisting in data collection, project coordination, and reporting related to sustainability initiatives.
• The role will support program implementation, track progress toward goals, and contribute to company‑wide engagement on environmental topics.
• Ideal candidates are self‑starters passionate about sustainability, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainability Program Support

• Assist in coordinating corporate sustainability initiatives, including energy reduction, waste diversion, and sustainable procurement.
• Research and recommend best practices relevant to Dexterra’s service lines and operational realities.

Data Collection & Reporting

• Support tracking and analysis of sustainability metrics (e.g., GHG emissions, waste streams).
• Contribute to drafting internal reports and dashboards to measure impact and progress toward ESG targets.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

• Assist in preparing awareness and education materials for internal sustainability campaigns.
• Help coordinate meetings, webinars, and workshops to share sustainability practices across the organization.

Administrative & Project Support

• Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the ESG team.
• Support documentation and file management of sustainability plans, reports, and communications.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Must be a college or university student and returning to academic studies upon completion of the co‑op work term.
• Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Business, Public Policy, or a related field.
• Strong interest in corporate sustainability, ESG reporting, and climate action.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Copilot.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills with attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented, remote or hybrid environment.
  • Hybrid or remote; preference for candidates in proximity to a Dexterra office (e.g., Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Thunder Bay, etc.).
  • Minimal travel, unless participating in optional site visits or internal events.
