Job summary

BayCare Health System in St. Joseph's Womens location is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Labor & Delivery. The role will be cross-trained to unit secretary tasks including admitting, scheduling, and registrar duties, while applying surgical technologist skills.

Responsibilities include preparing sterile fields, assisting with specimens, inventory management, and occasional patient transport. BLS certification and NBSTSA/NCCT certs required.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program or equivalent with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification NBSTSA or NCCT.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens and related tasks.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Description: Surgical Technologist – Labor & Delivery

This Surgical Technologist role in Labor & Delivery will be cross trained to unit secretary and trained on admitting, scheduling, and registrar duties in addition to surgical technologist skills.

• The Surgical Technologist is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a RN according to accepted clinical standards of care.
• Prepares equipment, instruments, supplies, operating room, and patients to ensure sterile field.
• Coordinates preparation or disposal of specimens, etc.
• Assists with inventory of sterile supplies.
• May assist in patient transport.

Position Details

Location: St Josephs Womens

Status: Full Time, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:45pm - 7:15am

Weekend Work: Every Other

On Call: No

Requirements

• Completion of an Accredited Surgical Technology Program OR completion of a military or hospital-based training program with 5 years acute care Surgical Tech experience.
• Surgical Tech Certification from NBSTSA or NCCT
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
