Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Lead Sterile Processing Technician to coordinate surgical instruments for procedures, respond to OR requests, and oversee decontamination, prep, packaging, and sterilization of all instruments through the department. The role also acts as a preceptor and mentor for team members.

The candidate should have a High School diploma or equivalent and certifications (HSPA, CRCST, CBSPDT), plus 1 year of hospital experience and 1 year instrument experience.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
HSPA, CRCST, CBSPDT certifications required.
1 year of hospital experience in a related field and 1 year instrument experience.
Knowledge of decontamination, prep, packaging, and sterilization per manufacturer recommendations.

Responsibilities

Coordinate surgical instruments for specified procedures and respond to OR requests.
Maintain instrument repair function and department processes.
Oversee decontamination, prep, packaging and sterilization of instruments.
Serve as preceptor, mentor and resource for department team members.
Support the Sterile Processing leadership in daily operations.

Sterile Processing Tech – Lead Responsibilities

Responsible for coordinating surgical instruments for specific surgical procedures, responding to specific requests from the Operating Room and Cardiovascular Surgery, maintenance of the instrument repair function and the decontamination, prepping, packaging and sterilization of all instrumentation processed through the department following established department procedures. Acts as preceptor, mentor and resource in support of department team members.
