Job summary

Battlefords Residential Services Inc. seeks a Supported Living Program Worker (SLP) to assist individuals in gaining independent living skills. Duties include meal planning, home maintenance, access to community resources, and daily living support.

The role requires English fluency, a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license, and a clear vulnerable sector check. Training and/or experience with intellectual disabilities is preferred but not required, with shifts on a 3-week rotation including evenings

Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Driver's license.
  • Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search prior to employment.
  • Reliable personal vehicle with insurance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach/assist individuals with planning and preparing meals.
  • Teach/assist individuals on how to clean and maintain a home.
  • Assist individuals to access community resources and services.
  • Provide counseling and support tailored to individual needs.
  • Support personal hygiene and daily living skills implementation.
  • Supervise medications as directed by supervisor.
  • Plan and participate in recreational activities.
  • Provide transportation as needed or directed.
  • Build relationships with individuals in the Supported Living Program.
  • Maintain professional conduct as a positive role model.

Battlefords Residential Services Inc. (BRSI) is looking for a SLP Worker. Supported Living Program Worker (SLP) assists and teaches individuals enrolled in the Supported Living Program to obtain the skills they need to live more independently.

SLP duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach/assist individuals with planning and preparing meals
  • Teach/assist individuals on how to clean and maintain a home
  • Teaching individuals how to utilize community resources
  • Providing counseling and support for the individuals based on their individual needs
  • Assisting the individuals in learning and implementing the principles of personal hygiene and its importance in daily living
  • Assisting the individuals to access proper medical and dental care under the supervision of the Supported Living Program Manager
  • Providing medication supervision consistent with functioning level as directed by the Supported Living Program Manager
  • Plan and participate in recreational activities
  • Provide transportation as needed or directed
  • Build relationships with all individuals in SLP
  • SLP Worker must conduct themselves in a manner such to display appropriate and responsible behavior as a guide for the individuals to follow
  • Other duties as assigned
  • CPR and First Aid must be obtained within probationary period
  • Training and/or experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred but not required
  • Must be fluent in spoken and written English
  • Must possess a valid Saskatchewan Drivers license
  • Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search prior to employment
  • Reliable personal vehicle with a minimum two-million-dollar liability insurance. (Mileage is paid out as per Union Contract)

Position is on a 3 week rotation and the shifts are 4-9 during the week and 1-5 on weekends.
