Job summary

Boyle Street Community Services is seeking a Family Support Worker to join the Northeast Edmonton team on a temporary full-time contract through Dec 31, 2026. You will partner with Children’s Services and community agencies to support families, develop CSPFs, and help pursue family goals in a shared practice model.

You will coordinate with Assessors, Caseworkers, and natural supports, maintain accurate records, and advocate for families while modeling healthy boundaries and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Police Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months.
• Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course.
• Valid Class 5 Non-GDL license.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with family members, assessors, caseworkers and partner agencies to develop a CSPF.
• Design CSPF tasks to achieve safety and family goals across four pillars: children, family, community, culture.
• Focus time with families to work toward service plan goals and coordinate appointments.
• Attend monthly service team meetings with providers and supports.
• Connect families to community resources within C5 and Northeast Edmonton.

HOURS: Monday- Friday (37.5 hours per week) weekend and evening availability

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:Temporary, full-time contract until Dec 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension

Reports to the Program Manager.The Family Support Worker works in tandem with the CSD (Collaborative Service Delivery) team to provide a plethora of unique, interdisciplinary services for families. The FSW is responsible for working with families to provide services and build relationships that help them pursue family goals. The Family Support Worker works directly with children and families in Northeast Edmonton in a shared practice model with partner agencies and Children’s Services.

Position Responsibilities

• Work in collaboration with family members, Children’s Services’ Assessors and Caseworkers, as well as partnering community agencies to develop a Children’s Services Planning Form (CSPF) for the family
• Collaboratively design the CSPF to include tasks assigned to specific individuals to work towards specific goals that relate to the safety of children, with an intentional consideration on Ubuntu’s four pillars (children, family, community, and culture)
• Focus time spent with family (whether a formal meeting, driving to appointments, and/or phone and text coordination and check-ins) with the intention of working towards reaching the service plan goals
• Coordinate and attend monthly service team meetings with all the service providers and natural supports involved
• Locate and connect family members to community resources, especially within the C5 partnership and Northeast Edmonton
• Role modelling healthy boundaries and relationships with family members and collaborative community partners
• Build positive relationships with children, families, the Northeast Child and Family Services Neighborhood Office staff, and multi-disciplinary partners to better support families
• Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating the values of accountability, respect, and creativity
• Advocate on behalf of families, and teach self-advocacy
• Responsible for on-call services on a rotational basis
• Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation to track outcomes
• All other duties as outlined by program manager.
• All staff at BSCS are expected to participate in occasional outreach and emergency response efforts (e.g., winter response) to support and engage with clients.
• BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.

Qualifications

• Post Secondary Degree in a relevant field of study (Social Work, Human Services)
• Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
