Job summary

Orica Limited is seeking a Support Shotfirer with open cut blasting experience to support site operations in Hollinger, ON. You will assist with delivering products, loading blasting at shot service accounts, and maintaining inventory and distribution equipment.

The role requires strong safety awareness and the ability to work in a 7 x 7 rotation, interacting with customers and teams to uphold Orica's safety and service standards.

Qualifications

• 5 years relevant experience with similar responsibilities.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Shot Plus and the Internet.
• Valid G license; TDG knowledge and vehicle maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

About the role - 40381 - Support Shotfirer - Open Cut (Hollinger, ON)

Assist the site by: delivering products, assisting with loading blasting at shot service accounts, maintaining inventory, maintaining distribution equipment and promoting the organization through contact with the customer in a safe and efficient manner.

Schedule: 7 X 7 rotation

What you will be doing

• Support company-wide Deliver the Promise Goal of Safety, Health & Environment.
• Alerts management immediately about any safety concerns, illness, injuries or environmental incidents
• Participates in safety meetings and trainings regularly.
• Full understanding of all vehicle safety procedures.
• Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment, wear and maintain all PPE according to manufacture recommendations.
• Learn and follow all SH&E requirements related to the job.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
• Constantly review the workplace for hazards, which could leave to injury, illness or incident and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Address improper SH&E practices observed in co-workers including contractors.
• Look for opportunities to improve SH&E performance and actively participate in SH&E improvement activities.
• Comply with all regulatory requirements of the job and SH&E policies and procedures.

Blasting

• Awareness of importance of safety procedures and potential consequences if procedures are not followed in proper sequence and within regulations.
• Experience in providing customer service and delivering quality results.
• Knowledge of blasting in Open Pit Mining and construction markets.
• Quarterly review of inventory tracking and waste materials.

Driving

• Pre-trip and Post-trip inspection of vehicles including checking and filling fluid levels.
• Ability to maneuver on the road and on customer property in a safe manner.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the inside of Orica vehicles at all times.
• In possession of valid license for vehicle and TDG card.
• Familiar with impact and importance of preventive maintenance on all Orica equipment.

Material Handling and Magazine Operations

• Operate vehicles and placement for unloading at magazine sites.
• Ensure each magazine is clean before locking.
• Ability to accurately document inventory level.
• Analyze site inventory to minimize product quantities to improve site profitability and increase stock rotation.

Compensation

• $42.13 CAD per hour

If you have direct industry experience, your pay rate may be reviewed.
Compensation is determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.
