Job summary

Ongwanada Resource Centre in Kingston, ON, seeks a Supervisor, Supportive Living Services to lead day-to-day operations of supportive living homes. You will supervise staff, ensure person-centered supports, and align services with regulatory requirements.

The role focuses on staff coaching, crisis intervention support, and accurate documentation while coordinating with families and stakeholders. Requires CPI training, pharmacology certification, and 2–4 years’ leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Current Crisis Intervention Training required (CPI, SMG, UMAB or related).
  • Current certification in Pharmacology required.
  • Fluency in English/French verbal and written preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff in supportive living homes.
  • Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and staff training.
  • Monitor mandatory education and staff performance feedback.
  • Support crisis intervention and behavioural strategies with teams.

Supervisor, Supportive Living Services- MNU-26-17

Vacancy Date: Immediately – August 30, 2027

Hours of Work: 80 hours per pay period

Wage: Hourly: $33.04

This posting is for an anticipated vacancy.

The Supervisor, Supportive Living Services is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of supportive living residential homes. This role provides leadership, direction, and supervision to staff and ensures that services are delivered in accordance with legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.

Working collaboratively with team members, families, and community partners, the Supervisor ensures that supports are person-centered, operational needs are met, and resources are effectively managed.

All employees are responsible for promoting and implementing Ongwanada’s mission, vision, values, and service principles, and for fulfilling responsibilities in accordance with all applicable legislation, policies, and procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervising staff and providing ongoing coaching, direction, and performance feedback
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and training of team members
  • Monitoring staff training requirements and ensuring completion of mandatory education
  • Supporting staff in the implementation of crisis intervention and behavioural strategies
  • Participating in employee relations matters and workplace investigations as required
  • Ensuring appropriate supervision of students and placement learners
Quality Supports & Outcomes
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and person-centered home environment
  • Overseeing the implementation and monitoring of individual support and behavioural plans
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation for supported individuals
  • Supporting admissions, transitions, and communication with families and stakeholders
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensuring adherence to all applicable legislation, standards, and organizational policies
  • Monitoring health and safety practices, including medication administration
  • Investigating, documenting, and following up on incidents and debriefs
  • Ensuring staff understand and comply with policies and procedures

Operations Oversight
  • Ensuring homes are appropriately staffed, maintained, and resourced
  • Coordinating transportation and ensuring vehicle maintenance requirements are met
  • Reporting maintenance and equipment needs
  • Completing required reports, including CQI and departmental planning
  • Participating in administrator-on-call rotation as required
  • Communicating effectively with staff, leadership, families, and external partners
  • Participating in team and organizational meetings
  • Supporting a collaborative and positive team environment

Education/Qualifications Required
  • Diploma or degree in Human Services or Social Sciences, Developmental Services, Behavioural Science Technician, Mental Health or related Health/Human Services.
  • Current Crisis Intervention Training required (CPI, SMG, UMAB or related.)
  • Current certification in Pharmacology required.
  • Fluency in English/French verbal and written preferred.
Experience Required
  • 2-4 years direct support professional in developmental services.
  • Experience leading teams or team lead position an asset.
Effort Required
  • Physical effort required to perform crisis intervention techniques as required.
  • Day to day activities may involve sitting in meetings, at a computer for moderate periods of time.
  • Day to day activities may lead to minor stress.
Working Conditions
  • Valid G license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Flexible work hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends may be required to accommodate operational requirements
  • Travel will be required to worksites.
