Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Rehabilitation Services Supervisor to supervise 30+ staff across Rehabilitation Services, including community, regional and provincial programs.

The role requires strong leadership, clinical oversight, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners. A hybrid work arrangement is offered with office at 500 Church Street, Penetanguishene, ON.

Qualifications

• Rehabilitation Services Certificate Program or Addictions and Mental Health Certification with supervisory experience is required.
• Proven supervisory and leadership experience in rehabilitation services.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and communications.
• French/English bilingualism is a plus.

Job description

Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 321-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Manager of Rehabilitation Services is currently seeking a Temporary Full-Time Rehabilitation Services Supervisor. The purpose of the position is to provide clinical and administrative supervision to 30+ staff across all Rehabilitation Service areas of Waypoint including Community, Regional and Provincial programs, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating and providing clinical and administrative leadership to a multi-service team that is responsible for providing comprehensive, integrated, rehabilitation &transition services & support for patients/clients with severe & persistent serious mental illness , utilizing a variety of rehabilitation modalities and interventions.

Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. Office location is 500 Church Street, Penetanguishene, ON.

• Demonstrate comprehensive clinical competence by modeling/mentoring/coaching and directing clinical leadership teams and individual team members in the delivery of programs and services.
• Perform effective human, fiscal and material resource activities including coordinating staff schedules/vacation and daily work assignments, meeting schedules, attendance records, providing input into staff performance reviews, assisting Manager with staff recruitment, interviewing, hiring, & orientation of new staff.
• Makes recommendations to Rehabilitation and Transitions Service Manager re service budgets and other expenditures, authorizes travel expenses, overtime and leave requests within parameters established by Manager. Frequently with Ministry, agencies, boards, community resources, planners, employers and family members on clinical or service issues; frequently with social agencies on support matters. Infrequently on community or public advisory committees.
• Identifying current service trends, implement and monitor endorsed practice models, assisting the Service Manager and Rehabilitation Services Team in the development of clinical rehabilitation practice models consistent with best practice literature, providing recommendations to the Manager relevant to service delivery; contribute to Operational Planning and the development, editing, implementation and monitoring for compliance of all relevant policies, procedures and new practices.
• Continually assess staff learning needs and implement strategies for continuous quality improvement including assessing ongoing training and education needs of staff and provide recommendations to Manager. Lead/assist in the development of Service evaluation and monitoring outcome measures.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with and between Waypoint employees, community partners, employers and stakeholders by involvement in meetings, consultations, initiatives and projects. Liaise with Ministry, agencies, boards, community resources, planners, employers and family members on clinical or service issues and social agencies on support matters.
• Participate in committee work both internal to Waypoint and external in the community on behalf of Waypoint and the service; participate in public speaking events representing Waypoint and Rehabilitation and Transition Services.
• Drive hospital vehicles as required.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Rehabilitation Services Certificate Program Required or Addictions and Mental Health Certification with supervisory experience is Required
• Class "G" Drivers License in good standing is Required
• Recovery based rehabilitation interventions & services and mental illness through recent extensive involvement serving persons with mental illness in a rehabilitation setting.
• Therapeutic rehabilitation applications / evaluation theories & practices in order to plan, implement, & evaluate effective, innovative Rehabilitation Services for persons with serious mental illness.
• The application of administrative, leadership, supervisory principles to maintain timelines, effectively perform administrative duties and promote a cohesive working team.
• Adult learning principles to develop and facilitate learning opportunities for staff/clients.
• Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point in order to produce documentation and manage correspondence.
• Maintains all of the required knowledge pertinent to health and safety, security (including relational/therapeutic security) and potential risk hazards to be deemed a "competent person *" under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
