Job summary

Arterra Wines Canada is hiring a Production Supervisor for Niagara Falls Cellars to lead a three-shift winery operation. You will coach teams, ensure schedules align with quality and customer service goals, and partner with union representatives to maintain positive labour relations.

You will oversee safety, HACCP/GMP compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating with Maintenance, Quality, and Wine Making to resolve issues and meet production targets.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Food Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, food and beverage production, winery operations, or a related industry.
  • Experience leading employees in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement administration and labour relations practices.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including HACCP, GMPs, sanitation standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and make effective decisions in a high-volume production environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays as required to support a three-shift operation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and direction to production employees within a three-shift commercial winery operation.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently to meet operational, quality, and customer service objectives.
  • Monitor production performance, labour utilization, staffing levels, equipment effectiveness, and output targets.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Administer and apply the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), including attendance management, discipline, performance management, grievance support, and employee relations activities.
  • Collaborate with union representatives to maintain positive labour-management relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety observations, investigations, corrective actions, and employee safety training.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety, quality assurance, sanitation, and regulatory requirements including HACCP, GMPs, and company standards.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Wine Making, and other departments to resolve operational issues and improve performance.
  • Lead shift handovers and communicate key operational priorities between teams and shifts.
  • Investigate production, quality, safety, and operational incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate production, safety, quality, and labour records and reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, quality enhancement, and cost control.

Compensation:

Budgeted Range - $$80,000 to $103,000. The budgeted range will align with qualifications, including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements.
