Job summary

Arterra Wines Canada is seeking a Production Supervisor for our Niagara Falls operation. You will provide daily leadership across a three-shift winery, ensuring production plans meet timing, quality, and service targets.

You will monitor performance, labor utilization, and equipment effectiveness while fostering accountability and continuous improvement. The role requires union experience, HACCP/GMP knowledge, strong safety leadership, and the ability to adapt to a 24/7 schedule.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Food Science, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, food and beverage production, winery operations, or related industry.
  • Experience leading employees in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement administration and labour relations practices.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Knowledge of food safety and quality systems (HACCP, GMPs, sanitation) and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and make decisions in a high-volume production environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and employee development skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing reporting systems.
  • Ability to work flexible hours across days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays to support a three-shift operation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and direction to production employees within a three-shift winery operation.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed to meet operational, quality, and customer service objectives.
  • Monitor production performance, labour utilization, staffing levels, equipment effectiveness, and output targets.
  • Promote accountability, engagement, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Administer and apply the CBA, including attendance management, discipline, performance management, grievance support, and employee relations activities.
  • Collaborate with union representatives to maintain positive labour-management relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety observations, investigations, corrective actions, and employee safety training.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements (HACCP, GMPs).
  • Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Winemaking, and other departments to resolve operational issues and improve performance.
  • Lead shift handovers and communicate key priorities between teams and shifts.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate production, safety, quality, and labour records and reports.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, quality enhancement, and cost control.

Role Overview

Compensation: Budgeted Range – $$80,000 to $103,000. The budgeted range will align with qualifications, including experience, education, training, licenses, certifications, and other business and organizational requirements.
