Job description

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Eastern Ontario, the Supervisor, Planning & Engineering will be responsible for the effective operation of this key department, including managing and leading the planning and engineering team.

The candidate will provide engineering guidance on developing and implementing strategies and operating plans, budgeting, and targeting improvements in incident prevention, production, output quality, P&C, design, and implementation.

This position also involves maintaining the GIS/OMS and managing electrical system projects throughout Cornwall, Gananoque, and surrounding areas.

The role requires reinforcing the company’s core values, adhering to health and safety policies, and complying with external legislation and standards.

The incumbent should possess practical knowledge of industry rules, electrical utility practices, regulations (such as OEB, CEC, and EUSA), and demonstrate competency in maintaining customer relationships, working with external consultants, fostering labor relations, supporting process improvements, and applying technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and relationship-building abilities across all organizational levels.

We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  1. Successfully completed a degree in Electrical Engineering, registered in good standing, and licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or a post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (certified member or eligible for membership in OACETT), and/or in Business Administration or Management with relevant field experience. An MBA is a strong asset.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years of electrical utility experience, preferably in a regulated utility environment, with supervisory experience in a unionized setting.
  3. Strong leadership skills in a team environment, with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to manage daily operations effectively.
  4. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  5. A committed passion for safety, ethics, and continuous workplace improvement.
  6. Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario G license with a clean driving abstract.
