The Operations team supports a unique learning environment that integrates foodservice operations with hands‑on student learning. The team oversees Jane’s, a public‑facing teaching restaurant that provides students with authentic customer service and dining experiences, and the Culinary Exchange, a retail food outlet where staff and students prepare and serve a variety of grab‑and‑go and academic lab offerings. The team works closely with the Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Professional Baking and Patisserie programs to support experiential learning opportunities, coordinate student participation in restaurant and retail operations, and ensure day to day health and safety requirements are met. Together, these operations create real‑world learning environments that enhance student success while delivering exceptional products, services, and events to the Polytech and broader community.
As the Operations Supervisor, you will provide leadership for Jane’s Restaurant and support a distinctive environment where hospitality operations and student learning intersect. You will oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient service delivery, and adherence to operational standards. You will be responsible for recruiting, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and supervising staff while fostering a collaborative and service‑focused culture. In addition, you will oversee reservations, service schedules, operational procedures, budgets, inventory, purchasing activities, and regulatory compliance. The role also includes planning and executing special events, catering functions, industry showcases, and Polytech‑hosted activities, while building strong relationships with industry partners, vendors, and community stakeholders. Through continuous evaluation and improvement of restaurant operations, service standards, and team performance, you will help advance both operational excellence and student success within one of Manitoba’s most unique hospitality and culinary learning environments.
