Homestead is seeking a Superintendent in Ottawa, ON to manage day-to-day upkeep, safety, and tenant relations in our buildings. You’ll handle cleaning, minor maintenance, show vacant units, and support the property manager with orderly operations.

The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 20 kg. Weekend shifts and on-call coverage are part of the schedule, with an aim to maintain welcoming, well-managed environments for residents.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance/ cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 20 kg and perform physical tasks.
• Valid First Aid certification (paid by the company) is required.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to safe work practices.
• Team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas and corridors.
• Prepare apartments for new residents and show units as needed.
• Facilitate and document work orders, perform minor plumbing/electrical tasks.
• Assist with grounds maintenance and safety duties.
• Respond to tenant concerns promptly and maintain positive relations.
• Handle rent collection and documentation where required.
• On-call and weekend shift coverage as part of the schedule.

Overview

As a Superintendent at Homestead, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and operation of the building, including maintaining clean and safe common areas, completing minor maintenance and work orders, supporting tenant relations, and ensuring a welcoming, well-managed environment for residents and visitors.

Responsibilities:

Cleaning/Maintenance

• Ensure cleanliness of common areas & corridors
• Prepare apartments for new residents
• Facilitate work orders and perform minor maintenance in plumbing & electrical
• Other grounds maintenance
• Address tenant concerns effectively and promptly
• Maintain positive relations with tenants
• Show vacant apartments to prospective residents
• Collect and record incoming rents
• Serve legal documents as needed
• Rent upcoming suites and complete required documentation

Safety

• Ensure resident safety and security at all times
• Respond appropriately and professionally to emergencies
• Maintain fire safety logs and winter logs

General

• Follow an ‘on-call’ schedule
• Other duties as assigned by the Property Manager

Qualifications:

• Previous maintenance/cleaning experience preferred
