Job summary

CANA Group of Companies is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to oversee construction sites in Alberta, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery of projects. The role emphasizes contractor management, adherence to contract documents, and efficient use of resources.

The ideal candidate will bring 10–15 years of commercial construction experience, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson or equivalent qualifications.
• 10-15 years of commercial construction experience with a proven track record of projects being delivered on time and on budget.
• Effectiveness in construction safety and productivity, contractor management, planning and execution, project organization and construction project controls.
• Strong communication, leadership, integration, problem-solving, interfacing, scheduling, project management and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in day-to-day site operations tools (drawings, deficiency lists, RFIs).
• Previous experience in Procore would be an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a good driving record
• Understand OH&S regulations.

Responsibilities

• The Superintendent is accountable for all site safety requirements including contractor management.
• Overseeing all work on site and ensuring the work is completed within budget and on schedule per contract documents.
• Minimizing project costs through efficient use of field staff, equipment and materials.

The Role

The Superintendent is accountable for all site safety requirements including contractor management. This position is responsible for overseeing all work on site and ensuring that the physical work is completed within budget, on schedule and in accordance with the contract documents. The Superintendent is committed to minimizing the cost of the project through the efficient use of field staff, equipment, and materials.

What You Bring

• Journeyperson or equivalent qualifications
• 10-15 years of commercial construction experience with a proven track record of projects being delivered on time and on budget.
• Effectiveness in the areas of construction safety and productivity, contractor management, construction planning and execution, project organization and construction project controls.
• Possess strong communication, leadership, integration, problem-solving, interfacing, scheduling, project management and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in various software programs to implement the day-to-day site operations (drawings, deficiency lists, RFI’s, etc.)
• Previous experience in Procore would be an asset.
• Professional conduct with both internal and external customers
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and a good driving record
• Have a good understanding and/or ability to find information as needed in the OH&S regulations.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience in managing the installation of conveyance systems is an asset. This includes elevators and escalators, and management of conveyance contractors.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and their coordination with other construction disciplines.
• Labour relations expertise in both union and non-union environments is an asset.
• Previous experience in Procore would be an asset.
• Red Seal & Gold Seal or GSI Registered an asset.
