Job summary

CANA Group of Companies is seeking a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician for commercial new construction and renovation projects in Calgary. The role involves wiring modular units from rough-in to final installation, interpreting drawings, and ensuring quality and safety on site.

The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience with temporary power setups, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with multiple stakeholders on busy construction sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Role

• Assist in wiring modular units from rough-in to final installation.
• Support the installation of wiring, panels, and fixtures.
• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts.
• Troubleshoot and test electrical wiring, units, and fixtures in modular units.
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure tools and the shop meet safety and operational standards.
• Utilize hand and power tools effectively.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, assist in development of safety process and procedures
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Setup temp generator and job site power systems.
• Set up temporary construction site lighting.
• Some work outside normal business hours may be required
• Primarily independent work environment, coordinating with other CANA entities, project sites, and external stakeholders as required.
• Complete material takeoff and assist with estimation electrical work scope.

• Ability to interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications, ensuring compliance with all project requirements.
• Skilled in the correct and efficient installation of electrical systems.
• Commitment to maintaining an organized, clean, and safe workspace.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Journeyman Electrician
• Experience in commercial new construction and/or renovation projects.
• Experience in setup of temp electrical system for construction.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical safety codes and relevant regulations.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with other entities, sites, trades, and stakeholders.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
