Job summary

EllisDon is seeking a Superintendent to lead on-site construction management for large projects, coordinating with PMs, Owners, engineers, and architects to ensure delivery on time and within budget. The role requires a construction degree and 6–8 years of experience across major project types, with strong scheduling and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Construction degree with 6–8 years of experience on large projects (Design Build, P3, residential, commercial, institutional or healthcare).
  • Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, safety, scheduling, cost control, quality control, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and lead a large team.
  • Strong scheduling experience with the ability to develop and execute long-term and short-term schedules.
  • Ability to manage trade relationships and keep the schedule on track.

  • Monitor, interpret, and forecast cost reports to maintain a positive cash flow and stay aligned with estimates.

Superintendent Responsibilities
  • Provide overall construction management, including design, budget, and schedule, in conjunction with the Project Manager, Owners, Engineers, and Architects to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget on large complex projects.
  • Manage work on site to ensure compliance of construction with the drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Plan and implement schedules, determine manpower levels and material quantities, ensure proper equipment and trades are available as required.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing progression.
  • Mentor project team members to ensure career growth and development.
  • Advise senior management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties while assisting in resolving conflicts.
  • Be jointly responsible to monitor, interpret, and forecast a project’s cost reports ensuring they are in line with the estimate and maintain a positive cash flow.
Qualifications
  • You have a construction-related degree and 6 to 8 years of construction experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience working on large projects (Design Build, P3, Residential, Commercial, Institutional or Healthcare).
  • You have advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, and engineering drawings.
  • You have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes, produce workable solutions, and lead a large team to successful completion.
  • You have strong scheduling experience with a proven ability to develop, maintain, and execute both long-term and short-term schedules.
  • You have the ability to manage trade relationships and ensure schedule is on track for project success.
  • The salary range for this job is $95,000 - $145,000 CAD.
