Executive, communications, grants management

The West Vancouver Community Foundation (the Foundation) has been working to create a more vibrant, healthy and caring North Shore community since 1979. We are looking for a strong team player to join the Foundation in a role that will include both finance and granting. The ideal candidate lives on the North Shore or is very familiar with West Vancouver.

Position:

We are looking for a Research and Administrative Coordinator for a 10-week contract with a start date of June 9, 2025, for 30 hours per week at a rate of $27.05 per hr. The position is partially funded by the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

Overview:

In a team environment, the employee will apply and build their skills in research, community engagement, and administrative/office support.

Research Responsibilities:

Each year we produce a Vital Signs report using local knowledge to measure the vitality of our community. Data is gathered to support evidence-based, locally-relevant information on the quality of life at the community level on a variety of indicators and topics. The coordinator will gather and analyze the data, combining it with local sources and stories to reflect a compelling report on our community. Research gathering will be done with online sources, local partners and through in-person and online meetings/conversations with community members and charities.

Administrative Support:

Administration support may range from general office support such as filing, scanning, shredding, mailings, data cleanup and other general administrative responsibilities. Other duties may include visiting Neighbourhood Small Projects (such as block parties) or other partner sites (charities, municipalities) to collect stories (photos, video, gathering quotes/stories) to report online (web and social).

Qualifications:
  • Some post-secondary education, ideal candidate would be a 3rd year or higher research student or graduate
  • Have experience with non-profits
  • Experience working with clients (in our case this will be grant recipients and charities).
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Able to gather, analyze and work with data to tell a compelling story.
  • Live or have first-hand, in-depth knowledge of the North Shore.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and the willingness to learn.
  • Eligible under the Service Canada requirements for the Summer Jobs Program and be 30 years or younger of age at the start of employment, per Canada Summer Jobs criteria.
  • International students cannot be considered for this role as per Canada Summer Jobs criteria.

Location:

On-site in West Vancouver and within the North Shore. This is not a remote position although there is the ability to work from home on some days. We are located in an older house, with stairs, in an open concept office.
