Summary: The Care Access Representative serves as the first point of contact for the patient community, staff, and physicians. This role assists in the patient registration process by scheduling outpatient appointments, entering patient information, transferring calls to appropriate personnel, and coordinating communication between business units.

This position is eligible to work remotely from the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures excellent customer service by demonstrating a caring, positive, professional, and helpful disposition. Meets call quality standards.
  2. Verifies key patient information (insurance, demographics) for accuracy to ensure safety, billing, and processing accuracy.
  3. Schedules new and follow-up patient appointments, attempts to reschedule cancellations, and communicates cancellations to providers.
  4. Manages referrals for multiple clinics, following policies and procedures.
  5. Answers and directs telephone calls, takes and delivers messages using Epic.
  6. Contributes to team satisfaction by being self-motivated, positive, approachable, and adaptable.
  7. Participates in departmental QA, utilizing work queues to minimize errors and make corrections.
  8. Precepts new co-workers as assigned.
  9. Responds to patient messages via the two-way texting platform.
  10. Handles clinic and provider in-basket messages.
  11. Works on clinic cancellation, no-show, and recall worklists.
  12. Performs other administrative duties as needed.
