Job summary

AltaLink is seeking a Summer Student – Protection & Control Technologist for the Field Operations North team based in the Acheson office. The student will support operation and maintenance of the transmission system with a focus on P&C equipment and will report to the Manager, P&C Telecom North.

The position requires residency in the greater Edmonton area and a May 2027 start for a 4‑month term. The role emphasizes safety, team collaboration, and the ability to work independently as part of a

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain Protection & Control devices associated with AltaLink's transmission system.
• Interact constructively with Field Operations, Maintenance Planning & Scheduling, System Operations, and other departments within AltaLink.
• Develop Field Level Hazard Assessments/ Safe Work Plans, perform P&C work safely and ensure a high level of reliability to our customers.
• Trouble response for Protection & Control equipment in the area.
• Assist and support other disciplines as required.
• Demonstrate alignment with AltaLink’s cultural pillars: one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.
