Job summary

Summer Student, Assurance and Accounting at MNP in Saskatchewan is an on-site role designed for students pursuing an accounting-related bachelor’s degree. You will gain exposure to compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax while supporting IFRS/GAAP/ASPE knowledge.

The position emphasizes client interaction, file setup for new clients, and collaboration with engagement teams. Travel may be required; CPA PEP progress is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Working towards a bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• Working towards prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
• Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset.
• Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset.
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses, manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform accounts receivable, accounts payable, capital asset acquisition and payroll walkthrough with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, income statements and other reports.
• Assess the appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and liabilities.
• Review, investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare posting entries.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build client relationships.
• Contribute to process improvements using MNP tools and systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as necessary.
