Job summary

MNP invites applications for a Summer Student position in Assurance & Accounting across multiple Manitoba locations, including Portage La Prairie, for a May 2027 start. The role supports a team delivering client-focused accounting, assurance, and tax services within a dynamic, entrepreneurial Canadian firm.

You will develop competencies in compilations, reviews, audits and financial reporting while working with seasoned professionals and exposure to IFRS, GAAP and ASPE frameworks.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration with accounting/finance emphasis.
• Progress toward CPA PEP (CPA prerequisites) is preferred.
• Prior accounting office experience is an asset.
• Customer service experience is an asset.
• Experience with accounting software is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Learn IFRS, GAAP and ASPE basics.
• Set up files for new clients and manage multiple files.
• Perform AR, AP, asset acquisitions/disposals and payroll walkthroughs.
• Prepare financial statements and reports.
• Assess audit evidence for expenses and revenues.
• Review discrepancies in financial entries and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and posting entries.
• Prepare client summaries and presentations outlining findings.
• Collaborate with engagement team and client contacts.
• Contribute to process improvements using internal tools.
• Maintain flexibility to travel as needed.
