RRC is seeking a Structural Engineer - Substation to advance US energy projects with options for remote work and collaboration with US office locations. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience in energy/utilities/renewables.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, and LPILE.
  • Familiarity with ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NESC, and IBC design codes.
  • Experience designing reinforced concrete and steel structures.
  • Ability to review drawings and prepare construction documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Apply civil/structural engineering principles to carry out tasks from start to finish with the team.
  • Resolve construction issues, especially reinforced concrete, to client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with electrical teams for substation layout and equipment integration.
  • Maintain project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Provide site visits, design reviews, and proposal support.
  • Engineer of record responsibilities as experience grows.

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of the evolving energy production landscape.RRC CORE VALUESMust understand and personify RRC’s core values:Client Satisfaction – understands the goal of always exceeding our client’s expectationsEmployee Happiness – able to work well with others, communicate clearly with coworkers, promote a positive work environment, and mediate conflicts between team membersQuality Work - able to take ownership, work independently, prioritize workload, and deliver quality results on time while working on multiple projects simultaneouslyAbove and Beyond - versatile, flexible, able to anticipate the needs of the company, take the initiative, and willing to go out of your way to assist othersESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESApply civil/structural engineering principles and project management skills to carry out project tasks from start to finish while working with the rest of the multidisciplinary team to complete tasks.Resolve construction issues that arise, especially involving reinforced concrete, to the clients satisfaction, as needed.Perform structural design and analysis for substation facilities including equipment foundations, steel support structures, control buildings, cable trench systems, and rigid bus structures.Coordinate with electrical engineering teams to support physical substation layout and equipment integrationMaintain project budgets, schedule requirements, and quality requirements.Follow established company design procedures and industry standards for Power Delivery (substation, BESS, transmission line) while actively contributing to the improvement of those procedures over time.Take responsibility as the engineer of record for various civil/structural engineering design projects as relevant experience is gained.Review or appropriately delegate the review of project-related design documents, such as fabrication shop drawings, for completion and errors.Review various design codes in order to apply the appropriate design standards.Perform value engineering design analyses to determine the most cost-competitive design.Complete project site-visits to inspect construction quality are possible on occasion.Support proposals with technical input and scope developmentProvide occasional site visits, design reviews, and proposal support.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (required);Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, preferably in the energy, utilities, or renewable power sectors.Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state (or ability to obtain)Experience in structural analysis and design software including AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, Lpile preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of applicable design codes (ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NESC, IBC, etc.)Experience with the design and detailing of reinforced concrete and steel structures.Experience preparing construction documents, design calculations, and reviewing drawingsExperience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams for support project scopesFamiliarity with compliance processes related to structural design in the U.S.BENEFITSRRC is committed to investing in talented employees because we recognize that healthy, happy employees provide the best path to sustaining a successful business.
