Job summary

RCMT Energy Services in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a High Voltage Substation Designer to join our growing team.

You will design AIS/GIS substations using AutoCAD, Revit, and Inventor, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and help deliver project drawings, field data collection, and construction packages.

Qualifications

Position: High Voltage Substation Designer

What You’ll Do

• Design physical layouts for high-voltage substations (AIS/GIS), including:
• Layouts and elevation views
• Installation details
• Grounding, lighting, cable trays, raceways, trenches, duct banks, and conduit systems
• Prepare conceptual, bid, and construction design packages, including detailed drawings and material lists
• Collaborate with electrical, civil/structural, and architectural teams to ensure coordinated project delivery
• Support engineers and designers in resolving technical challenges
• Contribute to projects for both new and existing facilities
• Occasionally travel to client sites to gather field data and support project execution

What You Bring

• Diploma or degree in Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience working as a Drafter/Designer, with the ability to perform at a designer level
• Proficiency with Autodesk tools, including:
• AutoCAD (2D/3D)
• Revit
• Inventor
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• A proactive, results-oriented mindset with strong teamwork skills
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Eligibility to work in Canada (Permanent Resident or valid work permit)

Nice to Have

• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and Revit in a design environment
• Familiarity with BIM processes and tools
• Interdisciplinary design experience
