Job summary

Intact seeks a Subrogation Property Adjuster to join our West team in a hybrid role. You will investigate moderately complex losses, plan strategic actions, gather detailed claim information, and negotiate settlements with third parties and insurers. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

You’ll collaborate across claims teams, manage timelines, and contribute to process improvements. A university degree is required, with CIP as a valued asset.

Qualifications

• A university degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience relevant to the role.
• At least 2 years of experience in handling property, casualty, and/or subrogation claims.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Knowledge of litigation processes is an asset.
• Completion or pursuit of a CIP designation is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into moderately complex losses, striving for prompt and equitable recoveries that align with our policies.
• Formulate strategic action plans for investigations and determine potential legal actions.
• Gather and analyze claim details from customers, witnesses, and experts to assess damage and recovery opportunities.
• Engage in negotiations with third parties, legal representatives, and insurers to settle claims.
• Attend court proceedings or hearings when needed, providing essential information on claims.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to external and internal clients.
• Maintain robust communication with claims departments and collaborate with adjusters and management.
• Identify areas for process improvement and suggest policy changes.

Salary range (but not limited to):

59,300 - 72,500

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

7.5%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

What you'll do here:

• Conduct investigations into moderately complex losses, striving for prompt and equitable recoveries that align with our corporate policies and standards.
• Formulate strategic action plans for investigations by identifying necessary contacts, evaluating collection feasibility, and determining potential legal actions.
• Gather and analyze claim details by collecting reports and statements from customers, witnesses, and other pertinent parties or experts to assess damage, liability, and recovery opportunities.
• Engage in negotiations with third parties, legal representatives, and insurers to settle claims effectively.
• Attend court proceedings or hearings as needed, providing essential information on claims.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to both external and internal clients.
• Respond to inquiries regarding investigations and claims processes.
• Maintain robust communication channels with claims departments and collaborate with adjusters, experts, management, and other claims representatives on technical and administrative matters.
• Cultivate productive relationships with service providers, monitoring their performance to ensure adherence to professional and corporate standards.
• Identify areas for process improvement and suggest policy or procedural changes to maintain quality service and competitive edge.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.

What you bring to the table:

• A university degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience relevant to the role.
• At least 2 years of experience in handling property, casualty, and/or subrogation claims.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking abilities.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Knowledge of litigation processes is an asset.
• Completion or pursuit of a Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation is an asset.
