The Studio Fitness Team Leads will act as a team captain, supporting their department to achieve their goals through practical goal setting, encouragement, and coaching. The Team Lead is accountable for handling member and guest complaint inquiries, understands his / her role as a brand ambassador, and provides positive brand experiences to all members and guests.

The Studio Fitness Team Leads will act as a team captain, supporting their department to achieve their goals through practical goal setting, encouragement, and coaching. The Team Lead is accountable for handling member and guest complaint inquiries, understands his / her role as a brand ambassador, and provides positive brand experiences to all members and guests.

As a Team Lead, you will focus on improving team performance by leading any assessments of the team's strengths and weaknesses and working with the Department Manager to develop a plan for addressing any needed changes. The role will be responsible for boosting morale and individual commitment in the pursuit of consistently maintaining high member / customer service goals.

You are personable, detail-oriented, active, energetic, and a zealous leader who plans, executes, and oversees the department, team members, and activities. You have a passion for working with and assisting members and team members. You maintain a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the position. You are a customer-oriented, friendly, and outgoing professional who has a serious knack for prioritizing and leading. You have leadership skills that allow you to encourage and motivate your team day in and day out!

To Land This Role You Need To Have

  • Post-secondary education relating to the health and fitness industry / recreation management is an asset
  • Must have certification in group fitness or training relevant to their classes
  • At least 1+ years in a leadership role is an asset
  • At least 2+ years of experience instructing studio fitness classes and managing programs with diverse populations is an asset
  • CPR / First Aid certification (required to have a minimum of Emergency First Aid and CPR certification) required before the start date and must be maintained throughout employment. CPR is to be renewed annually
  • All team members must provide a recent Criminal Background Check before the commencement of training and work.

As a Studio Fitness Team Lead a typical day might look like :

  • Educate yourself on recent team communications (memos, emails, etc.)
  • Ensuring team members are consistently engaged, working with Studio Fitness Manager on assignments they organize related to evaluating team member engagement.
  • Create and lead semi-annual workshops in your assigned area (Yoga, Dance, Strength, or Cycle) to train and educate instructors on class formats.
  • Conduct class evaluations as necessary and instructed by the Studio Fitness Manager
  • Lead by example and engage with all center users in a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
  • Ensure your department team members are well versed on all paid services within the facility.
  • Resolve department problems and improve current methods to increase productivity and customer service.
  • Offer exemplary customer service, including maintaining customer relations.
  • Display extensive working knowledge of industry standards and practices, including product details and company services offered by Altea Active.
  • Assist the Studio Fitness Manager with sub requests and entering changes in both software’s
  • Assist with or perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure the safety of both team members, members, and guests within the area.
  • Coordinate the organization and cleaning of the space, equipment, and materials before / after activities.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the studios to complete inventory and assist with maintaining the studio equipment (ie : AGF hammocks, Float Fit boards, Bosu and Stability Balls)
  • Monitor the environment for hazards.
  • Lead the testing of EARP (the Emergency Action Response Plan) with department managers.
  • Record all accidents, injuries, and illnesses.

Exceptional Member Experience

  • Ensure positive communication with all members and guests.
  • Monitor department issues and member complaints to define patterns and work to lessen those recurring issues.
  • Regularly audit customer service to ensure all service standards are carried out effectively, correctly, and thoroughly.
  • We don't want to cancel any classes. Always be ready to jump in and teach whenever possible.

Team Management

  • Attend all relevant team meetings, contribute knowledge and advice to improve the overall performance of the department.
  • Ensure all team members follow the proper steps for sub-requests and approved in a timely fashion.
  • Cooperate with the Studio Fitness Manager to oversee team members' performance and, if necessary, personally carry out job duties to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Be available to address team member concerns.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to all policies and procedures and foster a culture that encourages autonomy and accountability.
  • Create a cheerful and productive work environment that inspires proactivity and provide opportunities for advancement.
