Job summary

The Town of Oakville seeks a part-time, non-union cultural program assistant to support the Cultural Coordinator at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC).

Working up to 24 hours per week over three days, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., you will help prepare and run studio art programs, assist with special events like Culture Day and Family Day, and support installation, labeling and inventory tasks in a dynamic arts setting.

Qualifications

• College diploma/degree in an art-related field.
• Lift certification is an asset.
• Familiar with safe artwork handling practices.
• Experience with art/cultural educational programs in a gallery or museum.
• Health and safety training beneficial.
• WHMIS is an asset.
• First aid certification beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, organization, administration and maintenance of supplies and equipment for studio art programs (weekly and afterschool programs, workshops, PA Day programs, March Break programs, Birthday Parties, Drop-in Programs, etc.).
• Assist with the implementation of special culture events such as Culture Day and Family Day.
• Assist with attendance lists, instructors’ supply requests, and specialized purchasing orders.
• Oversee and provide guided directions to Artists and Artist groups during installation and dismantling of exhibitions.
• Assist with installation of artwork and exhibitions in the Main Gallery and Corridors (including accessing ladders and lift).
• Assist with preparation of artwork labels, insurance forms and sale lists.
• Assist with lighting exhibitions.
• Maintain the inventory of facility art hanging system.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• College Diploma/Degree (BA / BFA), specializing in one of the following areas: Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Management, Curatorial Studies, or Studio Arts.
• Lift certification an asset
