Job summary

Home Hardware is seeking a Student Retail Sales Associate for our St. Jacobs store. You will engage with customers, answer inquiries, and help create a welcoming shopping experience under the guidance of the Retail Store Manager.

The role requires strong communication and a friendly approach, with regular physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds. Weekend and evening shifts are part of the schedule, and prior retail experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• Must be 16+ years old and currently enrolled in high school, college or university.
• Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
• Able to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Flexible onsite schedule including weekends, evenings and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous and efficient customer experience.
• Assist customers, fulfill requests, and resolve inquiries.
• Unload truck shipments and load orders, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Advise customers on appropriate merchandise and related items.
• Process payments via POS and Moneris terminals.
• Ticket and replenish merchandise and maintain store cleanliness.

As a Student Retail Sales Associate, you will engage with customers to address inquiries, fulfill requests, and resolve concerns, all while delivering a welcoming and personalized shopping experience. Led by the Retail Store Manager, this opportunity is ideal for a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for customer service.

Please note the successful candidate must be available for store hours:

• Weekdays – 2:00pm to 6:00pm
• Saturdays – 8:00am to 5:00pm
• Sundays – 12:00pm to 5:00pm

Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:

• Provide courteous and efficient customer experience to all customers.
• Heavy lifting is required on occasion to unload truck shipments and load customer orders into vehicles.
• Provide customers with advice on appropriate merchandise and related items.
• Process cash, credit card, and debit card payments through the POS system and Moneris banking terminals.
• Ticketing and replenishing merchandise.
• General retail tasks and housekeeping such as merchandise replenishment, organizing gondolas, shelves, the power aisle, and storage areas.

We’re looking for:

• Must be a minimum 16 years of age or older, and currently enrolled in high school, college or university.
• Excellent communication skills and customer service skills with a friendly and helpful attitude.
• Retail experience an asset.
• The role involves regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, pulling, and pushing, and requires the ability to consistently lift and carry up to 50 pounds without difficulty.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• The ability to work a flexible onsite schedule including weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays, at our Retail Hardware Store in St Jacobs.
