Job summary

City of Kenora is seeking a Summer Student Program Attendant to assist in developing, preparing, and delivering public programs. You will work with a team to run workshops, assist with events, and support recreation programming.

Ideal candidates are current full-time secondary students, with First Aid/CPR Level C, strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work in a public environment. Flexible hours include weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Hourly wage is $16.60.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be enrolled in full-time secondary studies.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C or equivalent.
  • Ability to work with others in a public environment.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver recreational experiences for participants related to an assigned program or service.
  • Work collaboratively to create a positive atmosphere of inclusion for all participants.
  • Creatively develop daily activity plans for children, youth or young adults.
  • Monitor participants, volunteers and equipment/facilities.
  • Address unsafe/unacceptable behaviour and manage conflicts appropriately and professionally.
  • Maintain cleanliness of program area.
  • Enforce Safety Rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The City of Kenora is seeking a summer student for the position of Program attendant to contribute to the development, preparation, and delivery of public programs. They will work as part of a team to deliver programs, run workshops, and assist with special events. The Program Attendant will support the Recreation Team in the execution of Rec Programs and visitor experiences.

Qualifications:
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be enrolled in full-time secondary studies
  • Emergency First Aid or higher and a CPR Level C or equivalent certificate
  • Ability to work with others and in a public environment
  • Ability to deal with members of the public in a polite and courteous manner
  • Knowledge or passion of sports is considered an asset
  • Must be available to attend and complete mandatory safety training and orientation
  • Proven recreational programming, leadership and supervisory skills would be an asset
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Hours of Work: Rotating shifts; Weekdays, Evenings and Weekends. Must be able to work one (1) shift per week.

Rate of Pay: $16.60/hr
