Job summary

CIMCO is seeking a skilled Structural Welder in Canada to join our team. The role includes welding, hoisting, rigging, and structural assembly, with two shifts: Days and Afternoons.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, inspecting welds, and maintaining safety while handling heavy materials. Forklift operations are involved, and a unionized environment is expected.

Qualifications

  • Proven structural welding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of safety and PPE requirements.

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety protocols.
  • Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment as needed.

Job description

CIMCO is looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Structural Welder to join our team. This role goes beyond welding as it also involves hands-on work with hoisting, rigging, and structural assembly.

We currently run two shifts: Days (Monday-Thursday 6am-3pm & Fridays 6am-12pm) and Afternoons (Monday- Thursday 2:45pm – 1:15am)

Role Responsibilities
  • Perform structural welding on carbon steel and steel components using MIG and/or flux core techniques
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications
  • Finding and fixing faults in weldments
  • Safely operate hoisting and rigging equipment to move and position heavy materials
  • Assemble structural components according to engineering plans
  • Inspect welds and assemblies for quality and compliance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times
  • Operate forklifts or other material‑handling equipment as needed
Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
  • Structural welding experience
  • Proven experience in hoisting and rigging operations
  • Familiarity with structural assembly and fabrication processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
  • Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety and PPE requirements
  • Forklift certification is an asset
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a unionized environment
